library mosaic

Vernon Odom Akron Library Branch
This reminds me of Mount Rushmore: ML King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, Malcolm Little (Malcolm X). The middle two were escaped slaves, and became leaders of the XIXth century abolition movement. The outer two were leaders of the Civil Rights movement a century later.

Did not find material on this mural (i think it may have replaced a similar painting of the three men).* There is a small block on the bottom, with signatures, but it is no longer legible. I see four other arms spreading out, and two robes. This must be allegorical, and i hazard to guess.
upper right corner: notice the setting of tessera  for the mosaic, and a robin nest
attractive landscaping and a piece of modern sculpture
