back to the sunflower patch

mid morning Tuesday Avon, Maria's field
This section of the field attracted honeybees, monarch butterflies flitted about too, but did not pose.

2019 chalkies

Did not get to the chalk drawings at the Cleveland Art Museum until this morning, it rained (probably hard) last night, and much of the chalk washed away. There were a few puddles. It also was the first time, i ever saw any of the drawings censored/vandalised; and of course—it was by a trumpster.
Bob Ross, the public teevee paint instructor, many people were happy to see him with happy, fluffy clouds.

This foto, as some others are tweaked a bit so as to be more clearly visible/legible

This must have been real neat and sharp before the color was washed.
It looks like Albert is not finished in the developing bath. Hmm, no smell of vinegar.
This was the funniest—Elmo in Hell
 Censored/Vandalised
Did not see this was altered until i got home. "Who?" is scrawled next to Mayor Pete, and "D.J.T. 2020" is added. The museum sold the chalk to people to draw on squares, it was just like a trumpster to not pay. Perhaps, spelling was the limit of his drawing ability.
Some characters were repeated, and since Hallowe'en is on the horizon there are always some spooky drawings. Pennywise from the movies "It", and skeletons had multiple artists. The clown is holding red chalk.

Calvin and Hobbes, Where's Waldo, Sponge Bob, Pikachu were popular, and other cartoon and video game characters were drawn. Artists were lucky a Disney lawyer was not there to sue for copyright.

Chinese invasion fear theory

Somebody has paid much money to scare people of the red Chinese menace that will take over America through electricity. Newspapers and television stations across Ohio have called these commercials out as very misleading (pure bullshit). They suggest who they benefit (First Energy, owner of nuclear and coal power plants). They do not suggest who made the commercials. The outfit that did so, has to have made Republican campaign commercials before--it is the style: instill fear over imaginary threats and demanding the listeners to do something about it. First time, i have seen, "do not sign the petition" and report to us if you see a "circulator". Well, in a democracy, people are allowed to petition for the ballot, and they are not reported to some shadow authority. This is all in response to House Bill 6 which gives money to First Energy. First Energy has given money to Columbus politicians (state politics in Ohio is completely Republican), both do not want citizens to over ride them. [as i type, a commercial is on the teevee] The only name i can find associated with Ohioans for Energy Security (vague name) is Carlo LoParo (their spokesman). Who is he? He has a public relations business. He has been involved with state wide Republican candidates and administrations (Blackwell, Yost, Kasich...). Before he started his current business, he worked for Strategic Public Partners (vague named propaganda firm for hire).

postscriptum: October 1, 2019. Those commercials also included a phone number, which people were to use to report circulators of the petition. Yesterday, Dave Yost, Ohio's Attorney General, revealed thugs were sent out to interfere with signings. [click]

2019 Miscellany #9

September 5ᵗʰ, Cassius surveys a field of sunflowers
September 11ᵗʰ, one of the varieties of sunflowers is double quick orange. That field has five varieties in twenty-six acres. A smaller field in Sandusky has been in bloom for a while now.
Karma finds a rose bush to rest under, it reached the middle 90s on the 11ᵗʰ.  All hounds should have rose bushes.

Rocco's festival

Labor Day weekend St. Rocco's puts on a parish festival.  Besides the usual mass schedule, there is a procession, all the carnival stuff, and the event that began the festivals—the greasy pole climb.

 left over confetti
Well, the greasy pole climb at St. Rocco had only three teams, and the pole was far less greasy, and there were contrary instructions announced. After looking at the fotos, i found i positioned myself poorly in relation to the sun. The thin red lines are grease being slung off the poll. In the past, they were globs; this year they were as wispy as candy floss.
climbing over each other, the other man's limbs become like ladder rungs
 five man high

a spectator rises above the crowd
 going towards the winning touch
Argument—before the event started, there was repeated announcement on the ground that the winning touch was the bolt (that held the metal braces); the announcer on the megaphone from the rectory window repeatedly said that the metal brace must be grasped; he came down to tell the participants, but they had already celebrated the victory; heated discussion ensued, but eventually the victory stood.
