Bellevue Station

Bellevue Ohio is a railroad town, and home to Mad River & NKP Railroad Museum [founded 1976].  Mad River and Lake Erie Railroad was the second railroad in Ohio, and construction began 1835 from Sandusky and ran to Springfield (134½ miles) in 1849. First passenger service was from Sandusky to Bellevue (16 miles). In 1892 it was absorbed by the Big Four Railroad. 'NKP' is the abbreviation for Nickel Plate Road, Bellevue was a hub from 1882 to 1964. Nickel Plate was absorbed by Norfolk and Western.
Lima Locomotive Works made the 2-8-4 Berkshire. There are six left, only one moves, and this is not it. [click]
