2021 Miscellany #16

Karma is on stone age teevee.
Cleveland's Roman-rite cathedral. Y'no, parish churches for work to be done over a certain dollar amount, have to ask the bishop for permission. Of course, it is the parish's money. The rules for the cathedral may be different. For those of you wanting to see a really good looking church (Catholic or not) in the area, this one is not close to being near the top. Y'no, often the physical existence of a church building is a sign of hope, especially in a neighbourhood in decline. East 9th was (and to an extent still is) the financial district in Cleveland. I do not sense hope in this building.
John Francis Morrell. “Life Is Sharing The Same Park Bench”. 1969
There was a party Saturday to celebrate its complete touch up, and addition of benches. The painting was commissioned by the then mayor, Carl Stokes. Morrell painted other murals, this is the only one that survived. This is across the street from St. John's Cathedral.
Wifey called, and she told me the neighbours are the Lovecrafts.
The war memorial fountain in Mall A Cleveland is empty of water, and the colonnades of water jets are visible.
Darius Steward. one of theIn Search of New Beginnings. 2021.
Yearly, Cleveland Public Library Main has a sculpture exhibit in their reading garden.  Steward is a local teacher, curator, and painter. This series was his first sculptures. The models are his children. The girl's flash light/torch is lit.
