For 2016 the Repukes had 17 major candidates, and it was a shit show. Before 17 Democrats announced for 2020, complaints of too many candidates came from many places, none mentioning how many Repukes ran last time. Two dozen is too damn many.

June perfume

Slovenija almost put a linden leaf on their flag. When the linden is in bloom the green leafs are joined by yellowish white blossoms (and emit a gentle sweet perfume); this green and yellow combination was seen as the colors of their national soccer [football] team, who were called the green dragons. These blossoms also make a tea, the French call 'thé au tilleul'. Some people say it smells like grass clippings, and they are not cheap at health food stores. One tree has enough blossoms for thousands of cups of tea. Linden trees can live a thousand years. The wood has been used for sculptures. Many religious statues were carved of linden wood in central Europe.

Corpus Christi 2019

 The parish of Mary Queen of Peace made a religious procession to mark the holiday, Corpus Christi (the Body of Christ).
 
 A few altars were set up, so as to stop and pray.

♀ Henry V ♀

Cleveland Shakespeare is doing an all female Henry V.  The second of nine performances was Saturday night in Lakewood. About the only fellow to be seen, runs and climbs to the stage and identifies himself as an "old man".

Emphasizing comedy often, the Archbishop of Canterbury unrolls a scroll.

Except for Henry, the actors all play more than one character. These two: Kimberly Martin, and Sara Katrenich (as well as Page Cummings) were excellent throughout.

1964

A friend of mine, knowing my feelings for the Democracy, gave me this bumper sticker. 1964 was a turning point in American politics. The Republicans ran a crazy conservative, who had electoral support only in the deep south; that was a change—only in 1868, and 1872 did the Republicans do well in the south. The next year, 1965, a Voting Rights Act was passed, and the change in the parties took place. From then on, the flow of white racists filled the Republican base, and ever continuing crazy candidates were successful in their party.

Many times i have put up a collection of fotos, and labelled them 'miscellany'. Miscellany usually means a collection of writings, but can also be any group, or medley. Often 'images' could have been used to describe these posts. Well yesterday, just before noon, summer began on the astronomical calendar. These fotos are from the campus of Saint Casimir Cleveland. The church has two angel statues on pedestals in front of the main entrance. One is of a guardian with a child, the other is Michael with a sword.

 A gang of stormwater riders came to see the campus' green practices. In the morning there was a stormwater conference. A smaller group, but some came from Detroit and Denver.

Last year the presentation was very well attended, so this year a new set of figures are being assembled, and these are not worn, perhaps Cleveland Zoo are getting them first.
