Ridge Road Parma

Parma has been attached with pink flamingos since the middle 1960s.  A late night teevee host, 'Ghoulardi' a.k.a. Ernie Anderson, enjoyed poking fun at Parma. The flamingo thing was one, another one was the series of skits, "Parma Place". A very popular night time soap opera was "Peyton Place". Parma came to be the largest, by far, of any Cleveland suburb, and is the seventh largest town in Ohio. Parma has a larger population than the better known cities of Canton, Youngstown, and Lorain.  It took a very long time for Parma to lose defensiveness, and accept, and then to embrace the Flamingo.
Ridge Road is the main, and central north/south artery.  Currently, new asphalt is being laid down.
The flamingo pink is painted on these silhouettes at a hair parlor.
Late May, last year, a Parma sign was placed here. I think, it was removed before winter. It has not returned. It was made by the same outfit which made the larger, and more engineered Cleveland signs (which are still standing). People immediately added plastic flamingos. [click]

Now, across the street from here is the old Parma mall (new name now). If that sign was up now, it could be easily seen from the parking lot. Now, there is supposed to be a demonstration at that mall to-day. I looked on the interwebbs, and found nothing. One of the teevee channels said there would be about ten demonstrations in this part of northeastern Ohio. These will be about the murder of George Floyd, the continuing casual police brutality in America, and the Black Lives Matter movement. The only one that has been pinpointed is the 2 o'clock one outside of Cleveland's Second District Police Station in the near west side. They have had one on the far west side's First District, which was uneventful. It makes sense to confront the police at their hangouts. The police, if they were savvy, could show a minor (which might be counted as a major) gesture of peace, and reconciliation; but they are all about showing "dominance" (as Orange Caligula would say), and admission of fault is something harder for the police to find than frog hair. All the others, i expect to be quiet affairs. I have not been to any of these affairs, and i want to take fotos, but i do not have the stamina to be in the afternoon sun.
There is a small lake/large pond in the park. A variety of birds visit. This blue heron finds it easy fishing,
There was recently a swimming pool in the park. It has been replaced by a "splash pad", which is now closed because of the corona virus 19.
Geese know how to line up.
