it is about to be complete

Jack Howard-Potter. 1958 Championship Game. 2021. Canton, Ohio.

To-morrow will be the ceremony to introduce this 30' steel statue. It is the final piece of eleven public art creations to identify Canton with the National Football League.

The nationally televised game from Yankee Stadium between the New York Giants, and the Baltimore Colts is credited for securing a national audience for professional football. It is called the “Greatest Game Ever Played”. Late in the fourth quarter the Giants led 17 - 14. Johnny Unitas had little time left, and what transpired was the first two-minute drill. Unitas led the team quickly to set up the tying field goal. It was the first sudden death overtime game in the NFL. Johnny Unitas said none of the players had heard of overtime before. Baltimore won 23 - 17. Raymond Berry caught 12 passes for 178 yards.

When the Football Hall of Fame released there eleven greatest moments in NFL history, this was one of the moments. Arts in Stark planned a multi-year program of outdoor installations. I thought this one might be a Johnny Unitas Statue, but no.

O yeah, i tried to post the foto above on f@¢**00k. They did not "process" it, and proceeded to post the text and lie about the absence of the foto.
