Dogwood Winter is over

Dogwood, St. George's Day, Shakespeare Garden.

Two days ago, after the sun came out, Karma inspects a linden.

I remember College Green at Ohio University was full of dogwoods. People talked of when the trees bloomed in North Carolina, and soon thereafter south east Ohio would bloom. There is a farmer term of 'dogwood winter', a cold snap in spring. One should not plant until after 'dogwood winter'. We are a month past the equinox. In the Slavonic lands, Juri Zeleni (Green George) is celebrated as the beginning of green growth of spring.

Also on Wednesday
