Hallowe'en Day at the zoo

Monday was a free day at the zoo, for people living in Cuyahoga County and Hinckley Township. It is a free day because local residents help provide funds to operate the zoo. The Cleveland Zoo is operated by Cleveland Metroparks. Walking towards the entrance two volunteers were promoting the tax renewal levy. In this county, and Cleveland, tax levies for the parks and libraries always succeed. There are reasons for this: most of us are Democrats who value metroparks and libraries; and they are well run, and are recognised nationally. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Sunday, the 30th, was the last day for Boo at the Zoo. We thought, we could see the Hallowe'en decorations. Crews were working in the further installations of winter and Christmas decorations. In America, the promotion of future events are prioritised over the celebration of the current event/season. Hype everywhere, for everything.

There is also other installations of art. This is a mother gorilla with a baby on her back (not visible at this angle). This is also temporary, because of its composition—bundles of hay, painted black.
Fifty years ago, Cleveland Zoo had many more species, and individual animals. Now, they like to have larger exhibits that highlight a few animals. Last year (?), it was the expansion of the rhino space, and the removal of monkey island. Currently a bear exhibit is being rebuilt.
Another expanded exhibit is of tigers.
Tibetan spinning prayer wheel is part of the Asian Highlands exhibit.
